2010 Scholarship Recipient

Nicole Fambro
2010 Tina Wright Memorial Art Scholarship

Breckenridge High School graduating class of 2010 was the first ones with the chance to win the scholarhsip. We had many apply for the memorial scholarhsip and many that were highly qualified to receive it. After looking and reading through all the applications we chose our recipient. She was the Valedictorian for the class of 2010. She comes from a large family that we have known most of our life. Her father was always there to help us when we needed a veterinarian any time of the day for our lambs. We could not think of a better person to receive this than her. She is a hard worker, team leader, and dedicated person. She is attending Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Nicole was awarded with a $1,000 scholarship to help out with the many expenses that she will have while attending college. We have great expectations in her and know that she will succeed in whatever she chooses to do. Congrats to the first recipient of the Tina Wright Memorial Art Scholarship.

Tina Wright 1965-2010

Tina Wright was born September 29, 1965 in Breckenridge, TX. She was the daughter of J.T. and Mary Pack and younger sister of Pam Harrison. The Pack family remained in Breckenridge where Tina graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1984. She married her high school sweetheart Will Wright on May 21, 1982 at First Bapstist Church of Breckenridge. She gave birth to her first child Nicole, December 23, 1982(that's me) and then her son Deke on June 20, 1986. She was an excellent mother and wife. My mother was a very artistic person always painting or crafting to her hearts content. She always inspired others with her artistic skills and imagination. She was always at craft shows buying and selling pieces of art.

She eventually became the owner of her own Faux Finishing "Brushworks by Tina" while living in College Station, TX. She was widly know in the town for ability of faux finishing and was always busy. After moving to Wichita Falls, TX she was wanting to start a retreat in Texas for Alter Art because there was nothing in Texas for her to attend. She started Paper Cowgirl with a good friend that she met online. Wow, if she was only here to see it today. It has tripled in size since the last one she was able to attend. I know that she is smiling from heaven to see one of her biggest dreams come true.

She was an avid motorcylce rider and enthusiast. She came up with most of her greatest ideas while cruzing down the road listening to those loud Harley pipes rumbeling drown out all of life's worries. She also had two wonderful, loving granddaughters that she loved to spend time with and have tea parties with. She taught them many artsy things to do.

Her world soon came to a quick stop when she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in September 2009. After starting chemo and alternative medicine all signs were pointing to a road of recovery and becoming a survivor of this terrible diesease. Tina lost her battle to cancer on January 3, 2010 at the age of 44. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, daughter, son, two granddaughter, mother, sister and many other family memebers and friends. She is greatly missed everyday but we know that she is in a better place. She will live on in our hearts forever.
